HOW TO VISUALIZE THE VALUE OF YOUR DATA
The quickest way to add value to user experience in technology, whether you’re talking about the latest app on your phone or your data-aware storage dashboard, is to up the ante on visuals. Seeing data laid out in a way that adds context and relevance makes it easier to organize, manage and protect. By contrast, a complicated interface and extraneous features that don’t add functionality can turn data interactions into chores, even when they’re as simple as deleting unneeded copies of files or securing the ones that expose your business to risks.
Our latest SlideShare, “Visualizing the data-driven future of user experience,” explores how this concept impacts the IT pros that spend significant face time with storage dashboards. Traditionally, these dashboards have been clunky, filled with stagnant data and estimations, and wholly unequipped to accurately reflect the data-driven IT activities of today’s organizations. In short, storage dashboards should be as data-aware as storage itself.
Data visualization is the key to securing and protecting sensitive data, enhancing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) programs and preventing dormant data from occupying valuable storage space. It’s also critical if you’re looking to improve employee productivity and locate subject matter experts. After all, how will you know which teams collaborate best with one another and which employees draw from the most experience in certain areas unless you can avoid wading through a sea of hard-to-digest reports and spreadsheets as you search? What’s more, how can you reduce data risks without knowing exactly where your most critical data is stored?
Click through the slides below to find out how data-aware storage improves visualization, eases the burden of these processes and yields better results.
